The Department of Transportation (DOT) Regulation 382.603 requires employers to ensure that any person designated to supervise DOT-regulated employees receives at least 60 minutes of training on alcohol abuse and an additional 60 minutes on controlled substance use. This training helps supervisors and managers determine whether reasonable suspicion exists to require an employee to undergo screening.
